Arriving more than ten years and somewhere in the neighborhood of about 100 songs since this creative effort began, Surrender Instead finds Sullivan in full control of his myriad powers.
His song writing is steadily climbing to new peaks, at this rate his right there with Cameron winter as my favorite of the decade, this album is steeped in lore about his label and ideas like the freedom of creativity
Might be the best songwriter of this generation, at least top 15. Man what the fuck. This was so damn good and the writing was so peak and I guess it just hit me at a time in life where I needed something in this vein, writing wise and in its vibe because this was heart-wrenching
Field Medic isn't really firing on all cylinders here for me. Hes made some of my favorite songs of all time, but lots of his recent stuff just seems like riffing on some decent guitar work. Nothing on here hits the songriting peaks of songs like housekeyz or the bottles my lover. All this to say, the album is still fine, even good, but current field medic is in a bit of a limbo state for me for now, not crazy about it overall.
