Despite the very dark cover, the album is actually a very standard upbeat pop record. The songs selected are fine, the performances are decent, and the production is good. Still, it lacks a lot of energy and authenticity, and most of the songs here have better versions performed by the Beach Boys or someone else. The only highlight to me is "Now That Everything's Been Said", a very obscure Carole King track that has its ultimate version in this record. It's good, but very ... read more
