After reaching for the stars on their previous release, Torch // Flame feels like a welcome return to form and plays to the band's strengths while turning in some solid songwriting in the process.
I don’t get the negative reviews Johnossi has on this website. I get that they sound a little radio rocky sometimes but it dosen’t make it bad. Here in sweden they’re played on the radio all the time so i was basically raised with them. This album is their best in my opinion, it actually has some real powerful tracks and some beutifull slower moments. Worth a listen.
Swedish rock duo Johnossi releases their sixth album. Through the years the band’s sound transitioned from bold and simplistic (yet effective), to a more mature and bombastic approach. “Torch // Flame” is a combination of the band’s raw and accessible side. There’s a nice balance between melody, groove and intensity. Upon first listen, Swedish band Johnossi's sixth studio album Torch // Flame seems like a strong effort. It comes off as a bit unnerving to me at times, mainly because I have never really heard anything like this before and I am not sure how to categorize the band genre-wise. Still, I think I like it. I am giving it a 7.5 out of 10 for my initial listen, but I think it will be higher upon subsequent listens.
