Reviewing Every Album Kanye Has Been On - 3/147

Just mere months before Kanye's debut album, he appeared on this album, Virtuosity by Chops. the debut album from the rapper-producer of Chinese origin is classic hip-hop, often purely instrumental (i dont like this tbh), snappy, with an emphasis on an impenetrable flow, with cool samples and live instruments

but such music doesnt work after 22 years, unfortunately: now the abundance of the scratching sounds funny, and guests like Raekwon or Talib Kweli impress only those who know who these names belong to. i dont suffer from duckling syndrome, so i calmly admit that this style is ... read more

I love Chops and the Mountain Brothers. These beats are hot, but they do a sound a bit dated. This album has some of my favorites featured (Dave Ghetto, Mystic, Talib), but none of their songs are among their best or my favorites. Chops is also a dope rapper, but doesn't rap much on here or at all really. For example, the Kanye feature... originally Chops had a dope 16 on the version of this song I've heard for years. And I had no idea it was cut from the album version. What's up with that?!
