A more distorted and powerful sound than their previous releases, which REALLY works in its favour at points despite the weaker songwriting. I don't think their vocal melodies here are quite as consistently heart-melting as the ones the Clouds of before would belt out, but they don't really need to be seeing as how they're going for a heavier alt rock approach. Even the more mundane compositions are empowered by the great sonics.

First time listening to The Clouds. Somehow they weren't in my Aussie alternative periphery at the time. I guess they'd been around since the early 90s and I tended to get into bands who were just putting out their first albums around 93-96. Anyway I was pleasantly surprised by this.
