Back for the Attack certainly isn't Dokken's greatest album, yet it remains a worthwhile listen -- unfortunately, however, it was their last enjoyable studio release.
Back For The Attack was a strong record. While it was route-one stuff – arena rock with a heavy metal edge – Dokken’s music had its own distinct flavour, characterised by Don’s melodic voice and the George’s guitar-hero pyrotechnics.
Night by Night is the only song I dislike on the album, the rest is killer classic Dokken. Filled with great hooks, riffs, and Don’s amazing vocals. So many just awesome tracks on here that rank amongst Dokken’s best. Such as Kiss of Death, Heaven Sent, Mr. Scary, Stop Fighting Love, etc.
The favprite of most dokken fans who prefer the heavier side of metal, and altho dream warriors is my favorite dokken song and mr scary is one of the best instrumentals ever theres some fluff here even if that fluff is very very enjoyable. ranks up there with the best of dokken. (9/10)
While this album is not in any ways perfect, it still does exactly what a 'glam metal' album needs to. The grooves are great, the vocals are amazing, and the drums are massive. However, where this band start to really stand out is with the guitar work. it is much heavier and complex than a lot of other glam artists, making them a lot more appealing to people who may be into more complex and less cheesy music.
