The first full album from Philadelphia's budding rap scene with the early champions TC, Phanjam emerges as a crossover between two buddy-buddy groups. The result isn't very amplifying. Some folks seem to really enjoy this record but I do not. While the loud and abrasive production is nice the music and MC'ing is too blasé for it to be succinctly enjoyed. Tuff Crew had not really established their sound by this stage, and this short LP is not a cohesive body of work. Some promising tracks (albeit with very basic, stripped-down production) are mixed up with some filler and some less impressive efforts. Also, probably the best two tracks are actually by the Krown Rulers, and featured on their own LP the following year.
Ok this isn't actually that bad but it's not the best. Middle of the road for me, since it sounds really similar, and so ridiculous is a beat to weak for me.
