The guitar riffs during the verses and the buildup to the chorus are so pretty and set the mood so well that the hook feels underwhelming. Still a highlight in AFI's discography in my opinion because it's all around a great song, just a rare case where I prefer a song's verses to its (admittedly still very catchy) hook.
One of the best AFI songs, beautiful and is one of those songs that you can just feel in a way.

The guitar in this song's verses remind me of "Stand inside your love" by The Smashing Pumpkins. Which is not me baselessly accusing another band of ripping the Pumpkins off or stealing their riff, I'm not Billy Corgan. Quiet arpeggiated guitar chords are just a common songwriting device used to make a song sound pretty and emotional.
