This album is very poorly mixed. I think a lot of it was done on purpose, but it ends up making the entire experience worse. It's a shame because there are some tracks on here that would've been really strong if they were mixed better such as "a pale view of the hills" and "at what cost". Those tracks are still decent, but they could've easily been taken to the next level with some better mixing.
