It is only through repeated and detailed listening that those elements start to unveil themselves, and at the same time still enabling the listener to enjoy Epstein’s musical constructions, making Wendy quite an essential listen.
On his new album, Wendy, Epstein leads a cast of contributors through an imaginative blend of cosmic jazz, psych, and 1970s soft rock, but his songwriting doesn’t always stand up to the detailed arrangements.
