OAK have injected a myriad of musical influences into Disintegrate‘s sound, so that that although it’s clearly one cohesive whole as an album, there are distinct musical breaks that help to keep things interesting all the way through.
Acknowledging that death-doom is not my thing, I can at least tell that this project hits both genre marks very well. It's an experience from beginning to end, delivering an excellent doom album early in 2023. I just wish it was a genre I enjoyed more!
Oak deliver a tasty slab of funeral doom that embraces the genre in all its forms, by taking inspiration from the classic standardbearers of the genre and mixing in the black metal sound of their main band, Gaerea.

The first 25 minutes and final 10 minutes are incredible, but there’s a section that’s about 10 minutes long in the middle there that was kind of a slog for me. I can definitely see myself returning to this album though.
