Rather than instructing the listener as to what they should be feeling, this music works in hints, suggestions and implications.
While it would have been nice to have a clearer idea of what exactly Parish was scoring from track to track, Screenplay has enough blissful moments that it ultimately doesn’t matter.
Screenplay isn't a typical soundtrack album, but it still manages to sound cinematic whilst proving that the electric guitar in the right hands is as good an instrument for evoking mood and atmosphere as any orchestra.
