There is some exciting instrumentalism on display here (Connection, Ecstasy, Swan), but the musical spaces Marc Ribot creates here with Ceramic Dog--while clearly well-intended--simply meander through too sparse a landscape to form a true connection.
Might be one of the weirdest albums I've heard, but the vibes are definitely here, these guys are crazy performers and songwriters who want to sound out of tune, but still sound great, and they do well: that's the charm of the album
