Unsettling, yet endearing and not entirely dissimilar from that of Sparklehorse’s early work: move past the cryptic interludes and “Is it supposed to sound like that?” effect and you’ll find some rewarding songwriting.

When I first listened to this back in early 2023, it didn't really click with me like it does now. I went through, front to back, gave it another listen, and WOW it makes so much more sense!
So, Flood is an odd album, building upon the pre-established folk standards of the previous year's "Sink Like a Symphony" while trying to deviate with more experimentation. There's something special about folk music, it always uncovers the innate ability in me to cry. I don't have any nostalgia related connection to the folk genre, not counting the last few years anyway.
