NME
The singer-songwriter’s debut captures the highs and lows of a young woman discovering her potential – all while navigating existential anxiety.
80
Clash
Three years after her breakout mixtape, ‘vertigo’ finally grants her a broader palette to paint with, the alt-pop heroine delivering a vivid portrait of an artist in evolution.
80
Dork
Griff has kicked her songwriting and production into another gear.

Rolling Stone UK
This powerful debut will surely rank among the year's best pop records.

DIY
The sum of its parts is triumphant in quality.

Hot Press

Raw, youthful, occasionally dark and often fun, Vertigo is sure to soundtrack an enormous amount of adolescent heartbreak.

The Line of Best Fit

Griff has a talent made for the stage, but Vertigo is often hindered by its avoidance of risks.

The Skinny
On her first full-length project, Griff navigates big themes with maturity but fails to establish a unique sound that will elevate her insight.

Pitchfork
The debut from the UK pop singer is a proficient study of her influences but can’t help but feel like there’s a lack of personality to the songs.

I’ve been following Griff since early 2021 and saw her live in January and she was good live! She has a great voice. I quite like this album, I like her sound. I think she has found her own sound in the pop world which is great considering this is only her first official album and really, she’s only just getting started. She definitely deserves to be one of the rising stars of 2024 cause she has so much potential!

Although one thing I will say, I didn’t love the way she ... read more

Griff's debut, Vertigo, is fine. The artist has a beautiful voice and the songs are mostly pleasant. However, the work lacks personality. The disc incorporates the most common characteristics of alt pop in an uninventive way, resulting in an apathetic representation of the genre's current scene. The tracks feature predictable melodies and production that aligns synthpop with alt-pop; the intense electronic aspect, which often verges on dance, is softened to fit in with the ... read more

Checking out this debut from Griff it was pretty good! I’d say she’s one of the stronger singers I’ve heard in the current pop space and she definitely has a lot of potential. Griff and the producers on this record meld well together, on each track it feels like they spend a good amount of time, sculpting transitions, and great ear-wormy hooks. The focus on upbeat/club tempos is a breath of fresh air as they mix with the emotional singer-songwriter lyrics. The topic of the ... read more

Griff is an artist I'm just starting to explore and I love it so far. She is a really great lyricist. Her songwriting is really imaginative and simple. It's another perfect example for "lyrics don't have to be complicated to be deep". What I also really enjoyed about this album is the sometimes space-y production. I just love the type of production that makes a song feel like a never ending room full of space and then BAM a loud voice with great lyrics. I just love ... read more

Griff shows a lot of potential and growth with this record. She has a good bit going for her like her vocals, but I think she needs to find a sound that backs that up.
