Gluee as a whole suffers from like two main issues:

1. The production is not great. And it mostly comes down to the reverb for me. It never really feels all that meticulous or worked over, nor does it ever really fit the tempo and rhythm of the track it's attached to; it always just comes off to me as slapped on and it clouds and hollows out the mix on nearly every track here in this really unpleasant way.

Even on one of the better tunes here, the track "Spellbound," on which I LOVE ... read more

Blissful, ear-capturing, larger-than-life, heartening, and fun even, Ceres and Calypso couldn't be a much better soundtrack for what it's trying to be!

It's essentially this narrative of this girl and a seal in prehistoric times witnessing all sorts of important global changes like the creation of life after an extinction, continents and mountains forming, tectonic plates moving, finally THE asteroid hitting. Though it's loose enough to the point where once you GET it, you really don't need to ... read more

I can give Pinkerton a few things: it's easily Weezer's most ambitious and abrasive record, and Rivers did manage to keep his knack for throwin together an anthemic tune, but what relatively kills this record for me is that the vocals are pretty much always mixed so quietly that they rarely rise above the dense, cacophonous madness.

As a result, a lot of this just ends up being pretty forgettable outside of some key tracks.

It's good! Just nothing I'm necessarily looking to return to anytime ... read more

So this is my first time reviewing music from my friends! I was excited to get into this little EP/track, it was to commemorate a break I was taking from all the projects I was working on at the time. I'm just upset this little break did not start out on a great note.

This is mostly just kinda some limp, droney space ambient. The synth tones here, while I like the notes played, they lack a lot of teeth, and whenever this thing drones, it completely lacks any sort of deepness or heaviness or ... read more

This is an album you can kinda tune out, but in a good way. It's a sweet little collection of heartfelt singer/songwriter vignettes that even in only 28 minutes manage to leave not only a meaningful impression on the listener but a nice vibe too. Super calm, super relaxing, fantastically produced, but also melancholic with a lot of cute lyrical themes brought along the way.

Is this something I am guaranteed to ever return to? No. But did I enjoy it? Yes.

And the cherry on top? I can safely ... read more

As some of you may know I've tried a challenge like this before, but I failed miserably after not caring about some records I needed to listen too.
So it's time to start the second challenge and be a little less ambitious, I will listen rate and review an album every Monday and Friday, which I normally wouldn't cover.
This is where the point of the challenge comes in, I will try to broaden my musical experience by giving certain genres a change, which I normally would write off as "it's not really my thing".
I hope you guys in the AOTY community will help me, again, on this journey!

This challenge will start on Friday the first in January, so I will give myself some time gathering all the records from you guys! I hope this will turn out better this time!

Genres I listen to on the daily are: Hip-Hop, Rap, Trap-Metal, Indie-Pop and R&B. So, any record that's not within that certain genre may be recommended!

Thank you :))
