mac achieved a lovely aesthetic with the instrumental choices and i found his vocal performances throughout to be very cathartic and sincere. though, i personally found faces to be a more emotionally compelling project that goes a little “harder” in this specific direction.
i appreciate the different rhythms and sound pallets that he’s working with, but i just would prefer a much more interesting vocalist at the center of most of these tracks.
probably the most range he has ever shown on an album but simultaneously his least boundary pushing. still awesome though
