Mogwai have woven a perfect tapestry of sounds. They don't try to show off their uniqueness and exclusivity through complex interweaving of melodies. They create a wave that you enjoy rocking on. And if you don't want to rock, then sit back in a comfortable chair, turn off the overhead light, but don't light any candles. Just a street lamp will do, but if there is none, then it's okay, this album is so radiant with light that it will guide you even through pitch darkness.
This album has absorbed several moods at once. The predominant aroma is Britpop from the 90s, when Oasis was at the head of the music world. There is also a bit of the modern indie scene. This is expressed in the lightness of the sound and the harmony of the entire album, which does not have sharp mood swings. A few splashes of shoegaze (Sundowner) and even grunge (Death Kink) made this record rich and not boring.
Poppy has long been looking towards metalcore and on this album she made a very confident step there. Of course, there is no need to be afraid of August Burn Red or Miss May I, because the singer has retained her love for multi-genre, but she showed extreme vocals of very high quality.
The album also contains pop music, alternative rock, djent, punk rock, so if you want to understand what Poppy is now, one or two tracks will not be enough. You will have to listen to everything. And enjoy ... read more
I would really consider this as a demo version of a new project. Or as a second lap, but with a different driver. After all, there are 24-hour races where the car stays the same, but the drivers change from time to time. Unfortunately, the previous driver won’t return to the starting line, so after a prolonged pit stop, it was decided not to leave the track, but to tighten the bolts, wipe the rearview mirrors, and get back on course.
Linkin Park seems to be trying to recreate their best ... read more
At times it's country in the style of early Taylor Swift, at times it goes into romantic pop-rock. One thing remains untouchable throughout the entire album: Sabrina creates an atmosphere of lightness and carelessness. And this is felt in every song, regardless of the topic. If you were dumped - live free, if you suffer from unrequited love - let them suffer from love for you. The feeling you experience after the last track, relaxation and the desire to lie on the bed in a warm apartment ... read more
The album is extremely measured and detached. In these words I put the unwillingness to waste energy on any parallel activity while listening to it. You just need to try to relax and find for yourself a combination of notes that will convey your mood or current state.
The whole album is a pain that grows from loneliness, lost love, broken hopes and time slipping through your fingers. The record seems to start off calmly - yes, melancholic, but calmly - but by the end it hits you so hard that you get up stunned by this blow and don't know where the earth is and where the sky is.
A harsh sound that you both expect and don't expect from The Cure. The dark lyrics of light decadence here turned into something completely depressive. And the monotonous ... read more
