It's, like, good. It's hard to give it anything less than a 9/10. But every song lasts too long, he repeats phrases (and even entire verses) allll the time, and while he was definitely ahead of his time, the vocal chops are oftentimes distracting from his verses in a way I don't super fuck with. Anyone pointing to this like it's even in contention for greatest album of all time is compensating for something.
This album, the first track especially, is pain. It’s the hunger pangs for a relationship gone too early. It’s the nights spent staring at the ceiling with tears in your eyes. It’s the weeks spent after where you can’t think of anything else. The tears waiting to escape as soon as your focus wanes.
Dregs has been a mainstay in the autoplay for a very very long time and the fact they maintained this level of quality for basically every song they’ve ever made is a testament to how god-touched this band is
