every aspect of this song brings me so much emotion. it's unequivocally horrifying, desparate, and just downright sad. but as much as it is all of that, it's enthralling, incredible, otherworldly, and most of all, perfect. honestly one of my favorite songs of all time.

injury reserve was a group consisting of 3 members: parker corey, ritchie with a t and stepa j. groggs. however, in june of 2020, the world lost groggs to an unknown reason to this day. and i think By the Time I Get Back to Phoenix is one of the most expertly crafted, abstract and meaningful perspectives and portrayals of grief. groggs's death seemed to completely impact the sound.
