As always, Justin Vernon always reinvents himself and the album format itself with every new record. This time, no band and an EP and an short LP tacked together. On their 3rd record, Yorke, Greenwood, and Skinner deliver electronic ambient pieces, elaborate guitar work, beautifully dissonant strings, and complex, tight drumming.
Foreign Spies- a synth ambient piece. The chords make the song enthralling. The subtle arpeggios are nice 8/10
Instant Psalm- My personal favorite off of the record. The strings are unbelievable. The acoustic guitars are perfectly recorded. I love Thom’s vocal and lyrics. 10/10

This album requires multiple listens to understand or even to begin to enjoy. But, once it hits, it HITS. I think my favorites on the record are Native Belle, Hey Light, Two Sails on a Sound, Slippi, and Too Soon.
The three song run at the end is one of the best in Anco’s entire discography.
Native Belle: The vocals on this song shine. The chorus of sorts is so high energy and fun. I love the fade away at the end. A highlight track.
