It’s too bad this record’s nasty hipster reputation at times eclipses the earnest genius within it. This is up there as the greatest album I’ve listened to. Not the best and most groundbreaking album or whatever, but a regular comfort listen of mine. It delivers on a sound that’s polished and, indeed, lush, which is a bit of a departure from Snail Mail’s equally solid previous EP, “Habit,” that leans on a raw, bedroom indie-rock texture.
