"Dusk To Dawn" feels like, for better or worse, an old friend still stuck in the past. Lamp's latest album carries echoes of their brilliance, though it's clear some of the magic of their older projects is missing.

The tracks, as always sound like a cozy, familiar embrace - perfect for a contemplative evening as many of us have come to expect out of Lamp. Yet, there's a sense that they're treading well-worn paths, hesitant to venture just a bit further. Some songs feel like fleeting whispers, barely sticking around, or ending abruptly, leaving me yearning for a little more breathing space, a chance to savour the moment.

The album could have benefited from greater variation between songs. They tend to blur together, making it difficult to pinpoint standout moments which I wouldn’t mind too much if the experience was more gripping, but even that is lacking for the most part.
It’s not all disappointment and dejection though. Some of the transitions between tracks are nothing short of masterful, a seamless journey through Lamp's sonic universe.

"Around the Corner" displays their ability to craft mesmerizing atmospheres well. "Weekend" is another great example of what Lamp can conjure when they hit their stride. Its infectious, upbeat tempo injects a much-needed surge of energy into the album. The vocals are gorgeous, gliding effortlessly over the lively instrumentation.

At this juncture of their career, I can’t help but want a little more from Lamp. However, while "Dusk To Dawn" may not shatter expectations, it remains a worthy addition to Lamp's discography. The album wears its heart on its sleeve, and even in moments where the magic falters, there's an undeniable warmth in the record. "Dusk To Dawn" may not be the lightning that strikes twice, but it's a genuine, heartfelt offering from a band I will always appreciate.
