This feels like an exceptional end to a truly exceptional 2019 for one of our favourite bands.
We were promised heavier for Part II and the sounds on show here are HUGE. Black Bull, Like Lightning & 10,000 ft. are all massive tracks with epic riffs and bass lines with one-liners and loops that keep on giving. A perfect blend of art rock and eerie song-craft. Wonderful end to a trio of records from this Toronto four-piece.
This record possibly represents Foals' most complete and expansive body of work to date. It takes everything that makes Foals one of the best bands around today whilst adding a complexity and layered sound that has undoubtedly come from their departing bassist.
Yannis' voice is more prominent than ever and thick bass weaves throughout many of the tracks. This is a record that will not only age well but will provide listeners immediate satisfaction.
