A 28-minute experimental journey released in 2016 which I would define as a enigmatic and intense experience. Being so long, I would not normally listen to this all the way through if I discovered it on my own, but it was recommended to me so i had to thug it out. I was however pleasantly surprised with Michael Gira's vocals which were laden with deep themes and complemented by hypnotic drums and powerful guitar work. I'm gonna break out the thesaurus for this one. American Football, the album, is a musical journey through the landscape of nostalgia and melancholy. Each track has it's own concise yet introspective lyrics that illuminate forgotten emotions and fleeting moments accompanied with hauntingly substantial melodies.
