I'm not sure that Melodrama is quite as musically accomplished as the albums I normally rank up here, but its sense of atmosphere is impeccable. You can live in Melodrama and its sumptuous, deep blue waves in a way that I've not really felt with any album since In Rainbows.
This is fucking beautiful. The indeterminate lyrical dreaminess of Titanic Rising< perfectly meets the instrumental vigour of something like A Moon Shaped Pool. For me, that's pretty much a dream fusion. One of the most sonically sumptuous albums I've heard in a very long time. The strings in particular are incredible.
