JENNIE with her debut, Ruby fails to establish any unique sound. All of the r&b tracks here have been done better before (Kali Uchis), all of the pop rap songs have been done better (Doechii), and the one hyperpop-ish track - Like JENNIE - is basically lifted from Slayyyter's No Comma and GFOTY's Congrats. There's nothing here that feels uniquely JENNIE - no discernable style or sound that differentiates her from the rest of the pack.
The production does her no favors either. Like JENNIE is probably the best-produced song of the bunch, but others have already done the same sound better (by the aforementioned Slayyyter and GFOTY). The r&b songs have the most uninspiring production ever - Handlebars and start a war are diabolically boring.
JENNIE clearly has the ability to do all of these different genres - she can rap/sing well enough and she at least has a personality - she just needs better songwriters and producers. Everything on Ruby feels so focus-grouped - she takes no risks or chances on any of these songs. Unfortunately, it's at the detriment of creating a real artistic identity.
