Fake Ruby
This was my first full album from a K-pop artist or band, and I have a genuine question. Since K-pop originates from Korea, I assume that Korean is their primary language. However, is English like the second primary language in Korea? For me, the language barrier is a significant factor in my K-pop listening. While I still struggle with some English songs since English isn’t my first language, imagine listening to songs in Korean with English mixed in. If I can’t connect with the lyrics, I rely solely on the music, and for me, K-pop can be a bit musically scandalous. That’s why I don’t listen to K-pop.
This album was a gentle reminder of that, which is why I asked about the language. You can tell English isn’t Jennie’s first language. The lyrical structure on most of the songs feels off. The only songs that work well on a lyrical level are the features. And for a debut solo album, that the only songs that actually work and are good are only featurings, it says a lot about the final product.
Also, how did se managed to have this number of globally acclaimed stars in just one album?
