Super surprised! Loved this a lot more than expected. Such an incredible journey.
while i wish the vocals had some extra urgency behind them sometimes, the instrumentals are an absolute breeze while having these intriguing stings and pauses that really keep me guessing.
i love the beths a lot. i nearly cried at their live show. the sweet songwriting is as fruitful for my soul as possible but... the beths... elizabeth... lizzy my girl... just try add a synth or something... a trumpet? I can't help but feel like I've heard this album too many times now, and a stylistic switch-up would be a fresh thing for this band to do, but for now, it feels a little like spiralling on old ideas.
wtf this is awesome. its like a mix of Alex G, Viagra Boys, and Wet Leg. really dig it.
how is this too long and too short at the same time. i need the fat trimmed while simulateously needing these ideas expanded on. its a bit frustrating to try and eloquently state my feelings on this lol just try more with less ideas.
god The Sofa is in my top 10 songs of the year for me and the rest of the album kind of moves at a snails pace comparatively. i dont get a whole lot of of the more slower ballad focused cuts, but when this thing gives its all its really good.
i can maybe take three songs off of this to appreciate but there is simply just too much clutter that i am not convinced Chance put his whole heart into for me to really sink into this fully.
while some of the more sentimental moments feel a bit teen movie-ish, the persistence of bringing the energy that only they can bring keeps this afloat.
this has a lot more i can chew on than some of Earl's other material, but it is one that i can only really appreciate in hindsight, as when i actively try to listen i get a bit impatient with the warbly vocals. TOURMALINE is exceptional tho.
Just always nlown away by the expressive tenderness this songwriter has. Need to listen to this on a train going down the countryside or some shit lol.
not usually my thing but holy shit this has sauce. infinite source is one of the best songs of the year.
amazingly made and written but I can't help think that the glitchy production (which I am usually all for) takes away from the totally raw off-the-floor vibe that made Absolutely one of the best of the decade. This album is not bad by any means but it does not quite scratch that same itch that so many songs on his previous album did. He needs to be sadder lol.
Still leaps and bounds above so much other music however.
i wasnt ready for this. blew my fukn socks off. i need to crawl up into a ball now. stunning stuff.
A little too minimal for me to really sink my teeth into but definitely saving a few songs for a specific aesthetic playlist for sure
perfection. i may be hasty saying this but this is some of the most creatively fulfilling music i have ever heard. really tossing up if this is entered my rushmore of albums. it is other wordly.
