An exceptional album. At first I was only fond of the 1st half of this album and I hated the tracks following Drew Barrymore and would not listen to it at all. Until I started getting into vinyls and decided to give in and buy the CTRL vinyl. I, of course did not listen to the 2nd disc much, but when I did, I was pleasantly surprised. It sounded angelic, dk what was wrong w me at first but I grew out of it and started listening to the 2nd half of the album, and it was so WOW. From hating Prom, Go Gina and Pretty Little Birds, they started to grow on me and ended up being my favs from this project. Story aside, the production on all the track are so dope. From the ethereal production of Doves in the Wind, featuring the one and only Kendrick Lamar, to the acoustic and laid back tracks like Supermodel and 20 Something, and then the hard-heavy basses of Garden (Say It Like Dat), it really manages to make the listener engaged. Besides have dope ass productions, SZA’s writing really feels like one-of-a-kind and up-close and right in your face. This really shows in tracks like The Weekend, a song about being played but still wanting to f word, Drew Barrymore, about feeling insecure and wondering why the said relationship is going on as it doesn’t seem to be working, she excels in telling the story well and always managing to be outstanding lyrically. The album teaser with RZA was so dope as well. ANYWAYS SZA WHERES THE NEW ALBUM??
