This review is only for the second half:
Wow, this is better than the entire first half (in all aspects). He shoulda used these songs as the “real album” and just sprinkled in a couple of the better songs from the first half and made like a 12 track album. Probably would’ve been my album of the year.
Overstays it’s welcome and has a bit too much processing on Post’s voice. But you can tell he has a genuine love for country and didn’t just try to do purely “pop country”.
This essentially just feels like a lazy way to package and make more money from their biggest hits. The singles are the best thing on this. The rest of songs are like B-sides that focus on the same old tired “I hate that people hold me accountable for the things that I say” shtick. However, I do really enjoy “Popular Monster”, “Zombified”, “Voices in My Head” and “All My Life”.
Has no replay value for me. But all these work as polka songs so… sure!
Feels like a culmination of Glover’s entire musical career (so far), if you’ve enjoyed any aspect of his music… there is something here for you! Feels closer to “Because the Internet” than his most recent output. Wish he dropped the movie because having a “soundtrack” for a movie that’s not out yet (and has no release date) is… odd.
