NF, on this new EP, does not stray too far from the tropes of his past projects that have held him back, namely the "over-dramatic" production and the "lyrical miracles", but there is enough of a switch to warrant an applause. This album just seems so fleshed out. Between the ambience that is heard between tracks to the writing which seems to compare romantic relationships with spiritual relationships, this whole thing is so cohesive. Daniel heartbreakingly pours out his doubts in an atmospheric and retrospective manor. From a vocals standpoint, Daniel doesn't go all out on every track, but the layering of ghostly vocals make for a more intimate feel. going into this, i expected a solid performance, and i think that's what i got. not necessarily an album of the year contender, not top 10, really, but it is a decent project that clearly shows Lecrae's state of mind and how he was changed through faith. i'd say that the first 3 tracks are solid, brick for brick being the first miss due to the annoying vocals on the hook. the next 6 tracks are all solid, headphones surprisingly being the weakest among them.
