This tape goes hard! Perubaby with his clever wordplay, impactful vocal performances and general atmosphere he brings to each track. I won't be surprised if he goes further in the underground through the influences taken from 1oneam and TDF. He still has his own flair and style, as most of the songs coalign with the theme of balloons. This sound is so infectious and holds a lot of replay-ability. Great listen.
Best songs: blase, ho chi minh, doo say, kiss my keister, balloons in paris
Besides a few bangers, Phreshboyswag seems to sustain his usual drugged slurry of vocal performances, complete with nonsensical rhymes and questionable flow and lyrics. It appears more experimental and more of a performance art, rather than an actual album with actual songs. I still do however love Phreshboyswag, there is simply no one like him in the game. Despite the drug abuse and other problems alongside the artistry. The cult following still follows. Including myself as I got to see him ... read more
Coming from the new era of hard-hitting underground artists from the UK, it's not a fluke that SINN6R fits in to the scene, as he delivers merciless and witty bars over heavy trap 808 production, with that unique British flair that we see from EsDeeKid, Fimi, etc. With very few songs lasting over 2 minutes, there is a lot of similarities between each track and it doesn't seem that there is much variety in the raps and performances from SINN6R, outside of the beat selection. The pioneer of Swiss cloud rap, Nokia Angel, delivers a EP packed with dark, eerie, & ambient production alongside nasally ethereal vocals. Blending sounds from Drain Gang (specifically Ecco2k) and Haunted Mound, we see Nokia Angel create the perfect 'hazey' atmosphere across the variety of tracks, making it a decent listen. My only critique lies in its one-noted approach to Nokia's flow, lyrical subjects and general vibe being same-same on all of the tracks. The samples are ... read more
Bass-heavy 808 production, quirky wordplay & a Scouse accent. This mixtape perfectly speaks to the troubled and rowdy British teenager but not in the traditional drill scene sense that has become so adopted in today's UK rap scene. Alongside Wraith9, EsDeeKid delivers short but impactful vocal performances through a variety of both unique yet similar production. Overall, there are no moments to rest on this packed-to-the-punch tape filled with bangers and memorable features from his UK ... read more
