東京酒吐座 [Tokyo Shoegazer] - Remains

An incredibly beautiful and pleasant shoegaze album, listening to this felt just as pleasurable as the group's other projects.

Drake - ICEMAN
67

Iceman may be the most quintessential Drake album to date. From the memes surrounding it, to the cheesy bars, to the inconsistent nature of the album. I can't say I expected much from this album, but it is better than I had thought.

Favorite Tracks: Make Them Pay, National Treasures, Firm Friends
Least favorite: Little Birdie

Hayley, boy oh boy, where do I even begin?
Dear GOAT Hayley Williams, I am writing this letter to express my utmost admiration and respect for your unparalleled talent and leadership both on and off the basketball court. Your dedication to the game, work ethic, and commitment to excellence serve as an inspiration to millions of fans worldwide. Joey Bada$$ - Lonely At The Top

JOEY'S BACK, AND HE STILL HASN'T RELEASED THE FUCKASS DISSES. BUT WE'RE SO BACK. From the moment I heard DARK AURA, I knew we were eating good with this album. Beats and variety? Peak. Feature? GOATED. The only people who were dissing Joey, who dropped something at least as good as this album, were Mick Jenkins and maybe Ray Vaughn. However, this album just makes me madder about Rocky's bum ass not dropping. You can shake my ass any day Joey. (No Diddy)

Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS

A pretty decent album that's sonically pleasing (most of the time) with some really high highs but really low lows. The best way I can describe it is it's the N.E.R.D. tribute equivalent of Eminem's MMLP2. It can often times sound extremely beautiful with some unmatched vocals, like on Sugar on My Tongue, Don't You Worry Baby, Tell Me What It Is and Ring Ring Ring; it sometimes can sound like actual garbage, like on Mommanem and Stop Playing With Me, and parts of it can ... read more

requiem for you - heartbreak angel

A wonderful and atmospheric album, something you'd expect from Requiem for You.

Chance the Rapper - STAR LINE
81

IT'S PEAK!!! The comeback! An incredible album with some unfortunate low lows that I wish were replaced with the singles from 2024 that weren't present on this album.

Star Side Intro: An incredibly well-produced gospel-esque rap song that gave me hope for this album. 100

Ride: Ride’s decently enjoyable beat doesn’t really make up for Chance’s tired-sounding flow on the first verse but the feature does. Also, W Pitbull reference. 70

Freddie Gibbs - Alfredo 2

Al and Freddie come back with a vengeance on an incredibly produced album packed with funny disses, great lyrics, and immaculate vibes. We need to see how this ages since this album could possibly age even better than its predecessor.

Favorite tracks: 1995, Ensalada, I Still Love H.E.R., Lavish Habits
Least favorites: Feeling, Jean Claude

Common - The Auditorium Vol. 1

HAPPY ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

As expected from Common, we got an incredibly introspective, well-produced, and sonically pleasing album that was way ahead of what some other old-school rappers were dropping that same day—no shade.

Favorite tracks: Dreamin’, Wise Up, A GOD (There Is), Lonesome, Everything’s So Grand
Least favorite: We’re On Our Way

THIS IS CULTURALLY INAPPROPRIATE. Yellow diamonds look like peepee!!

Holy fuck, this is one of the best rap albums of the 2020s. The production goes INSANE, the lyrics hit hard, and the vibes are immaculate. I grew a few beards, and my chest hair quadrupled by listening to this album.

Favorite tracks: The Birds Don’t Sing, Chains & Whips, So Be It, F.I.C.O, So Far Ahead, Let God Sort Em Out/Chandeliers, By The Grace Of God
Least favorite: All Things Considered

Insane fucking banger

Aesop Rock - Black Hole Superette
85

Over two decades and not a single bad album shout out to Aesop Rock. Aesop gives us another incredibly enjoyable album with even better production than last time and even funkier flows than before. The incredible futuristic instrumentals alongside the stacked underground feature list definitely deliver. The storytelling paired with the instrumentals is great; it's somehow both one of his most accessible projects and one of his less accessible ones in terms of standalone tracks. If my girl isn't like this, I don't want her.

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP

Happy (late) anniversary to the Marshall Mathers LP. I had grown up with each one of these songs so much I can't even write an individual review for each of the songs like I usually do, so I'll just summarize my thoughts on this album instead.

It's an incredibly well-produced album that can make you think, laugh, cry, and feel weirded out. The fact that this album both escaped production and went diamond is crazy, but I'm glad it did. From all the weird horrorcore-esque ... read more

Common - Be

HAPPY 20TH ANNIVERSARY TO ONE OF THE GREATEST HIP HOP ALBUMS OF ALL TIME!! An incredibly conscious, introspective, and sonically pleasing project that often gets overlooked in the conversation of the greatest hip hop LPs.

The intro to Be is one of, if not the, greatest intro tracks to any hip-hop album; not much to say about it that hasn't been said already.

While not my favorite on the album, the instrumental and lyrics on The Corner are a great preview that tells you how good this ... read more

"The song acts like any job that doesn't require a college degree isn't worth it when it puts down Tiana's dream in opening up her own restaurant. It acts like lesbians are something inherently political or taboo when talking about Jasmin and Mulan (also it's kinda weird since it's talking about two children making out)."
