Every new listen to this album going into it I forgot how much I enjoy it. Each track is emotionally strong in its own way- either in a sad or upbeat way. A song like I Need My Girl just makes me think. Playing it with eyes closed and just thinking. The experience I get from that is something I’ve not gotten from any other project.
This half English half French record left something to be desired. The rough acoustic sound and gritty folk style gave the album a lot of personality early on. Lisa’s vocals brought a ton of energy and emotion that made the first half feel very alive, but the further we pulled from the start the weaker the tracks got. The folk genre is something that I search enjoyment but the general mid I’ve found in it does not make the search more desirable.
Ben Howard the hidden gem goddamn. Despite being very soft and relaxing type music, I couldn’t help but be extremely excited while listening. The hazy guitar and distant vocals give Howard his own recognizable sound despite being within an overcrowded scene. Rivers In Your Mouth is my standout track of this record and really shows off his talents better than anything else on here.
The power of electronic production.
Favourite Tracks: Love Is Everywhere, Death and Romance, That's My Floor, Vampire in the Corner, Tunnel Vision
Least Favourite: Fear, Sex
A raw and fun listen, even if it gets a little too comfortable throughout. A solid listen.
Favourite Tracks: Old Scratch Blues, That's How I'm Feeling, Morning At Midnight
Least Favourite: What's The Rumpus?
Even in the span of 80 minutes, I was never once uninterested. The album constantly shifts styles in a natural manner, which keeps it consistently engaging.
Favourite Tracks: Red Moon, Simulation Swarm, No Reason, Little Things, Sparrow
Least Favourite: None
A simple project to a fault, that rarely breaks new ground, but it's still a fun, short and sweet country record.
Favourite Tracks: Stay Gold, My Silver Lining, Cedar Lane
Least Favourite: The Bell
A surprising hit with Veirs using some very unique vocals to make this project feel real special.
Favourites, Summer is the Champion, Wide-Eyed, Legless, Little Deschutes, Where Are You Driving?
Least Favourites: Sleeper In the Valley
A solid alt-country project that uses Neko’s vocals to the fullest. Although it does blend together a bit and gets a little boring by the end.
Favourites: Hold on, Hold on, That Teenage Feeling
Least Favourites: Lions Jaws, Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
EDITED SCORE: 83 > 90
Shows Fiona's abilities better than any of than any of her other projects, each song being emotional masterpieces.
Favourites: Valentine, Hot Knife, Every Single Night, Left Alone
Least Favourites: Largo
Very strong for a first project but definitely her least concise album
Favourites: idontwannabeyouanymore, my boy, ocean eyes
Least favourites: hostage, watch
The most mundane Regina project. Doesn't have a lot to call it's own
Favourites: Patron Saint, How
Least Favourites: Firewood, The Party
A beautiful film with a more beautiful soundtrack
Favourites: Mystery of Love, Futile Devices, Visions of Gideon
Least Favourites: NA
Bare minimum Sufjan singing about his sexuality? You're in for a treat
Favourites: The Dress Looks Nice, Size Too Small, All the Trees, To Be Alone With You
Least Favourites: A Good Man is Hard to Find, Abraham
One of her best project no doubt but too much weak in the middle of the great.
Favourites: That White Cat, I'll Change For You
Least Favourites: Lightning, Instead of Here
Second best media to come from The Caribbean
Favourites: Stronger Than That, All The Time, All I've Ever Known
