Lyrics were fine, if not STRONGLY indicative of the other queer acoustic male artists that also only sing about religious trauma and crushing on straight/DL men *ᶜᵒᵘᵍʰ ᶜᵒⁿᵃⁿ ᵃⁿᵈ ᵏᵉᵛᶦⁿ ᶜᵒᵘᵍʰ*. Not bad things to sing about obviously, and not bad lyricism from Ryan, but nothing special.
Instrumentals and vocal warbling could get very overstimulating at times, and cover up his voice, which is quite nice. I thought balaclava was a vocal highlight.

I once read 200 pages of textbooks with nothing but this playing on repeat for four hours straight. Nothing gets me going like a chill little instrumental.
As a long time fan of glass animals, I don’t think I’ll be dropping any jaws when I say I heavily prefer their old material. That being said, I don’t think this album was a complete wash.
