Bone Machine

Right out of the gate this record is noticeably GRIM- even more so than the three records prior to this which says a lot. This record sounds like crawling through a pitch black tunnel while underground- the vocals sound completely decimated at points, as though Tom himself is actively suffocating. Interestingly, though, there are a few tracks that act as breaks to this dour mood, well at least compared to the rest of the album- Jesus Gonna Be Here and Black Wings for instance. I still slightly prefer Rain Dogs but I can confidently say this is my second favorite of his records I've heard thus far
