Portishead's third (ha) and currently final record finds the band taking a major turn towards intense, experimental electronic rock while the trip-hop influences take a bit of a backseat, to major success. This record is DARK in a way their prior albums only flirted with in comparison- fr tracks like Machine Gun, The Rip, and Threads are so much more oppressive and intense than anything from Portishead prior that it's unbelievable. Such a great ending to one of the best three-album runs in history
