An album doesn't have to push boundaries to be good. One big issue is that it oftentimes sound empty. The parts of Alex turners vocal rhythm/ melody along with the "stripped down" sound, leaves some parts of the songs empty.
It's basically has the themes of the debut album but dingy bars became sleek night clubs and more there's more sex now.
