summer's gone has one of the most beautiful guitar loops i've ever heard, and its definitely the highlight of this album. the rest of the album is very pretty shoegaze, relatively on the softer side. slow dive and 26:15 are other highlights, especially with the way the vocals blend with the guitar as is traditional for shoegaze.
this album is so versatile, but also so cohesive. the title track is a serene folk song, flower of blood is a shoegaze-adjacent dream pop song, blurred view is a straight-up trip hop song, and yet all of them both sonically and lyrically tie back to the natural imagery and vibes this album has.
love the hypnotic repetition all throughout this album, especially on POKKA POKKA and WALKING IN THE RHYTHM. its so beautifully entrancing
first impressions: dry at points, but for the most part a great song. i interpret this as about self-discovery related to religion.
bangers all the way through, really nice upbeat production and pretty vocals. after the earthquake especially hits hard, with some parts of the instrumental feeling desperate. some songs are kinda just ok to counterbalance the highs though.
favorites: after the earthquake, very online guy, belinda says

there originally wasn't a review here, but this has only grown on me
how they put so much raw dreaminess into 37 minutes is inconceivable, but they did and it's here and it's awesome
storm > static > sleep > like antennas..., disagree i dare you
one of godspeed's best, however some parts like the intro to the second movement in sleep can drag. the small vocal sections provide a small snapshot of godspeed's vision of the world they create, my personal favorite being the 3rd and 4th movements of storm. the soaring instrumentals feel like the entire world is going to collapse and explode at some points, but also that the same world is going to ascend at ... read more
crazy ass production, very fun lyrics, both joey valence and brae have great flows. nothing super thought provoking or ground breaking, but it doesn't want or need to be. mega consistent tracklist, can listen front to back without getting bored.
some incredible highs (reincarnated is genuinely career highlight, that piano is incredible), but some extremely mid lows (hey now, peekaboo, gnx, dodger blue).
also cant not mention heart pt. 6, banger.
MUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD/100
77 -> 81
four fun points for being a fun album
81 -> 74
not taking away the fun points, but the misses on this album are like aggressively mid
good noise pop, close and fake blood recipe are major standouts

your touch freaks me out >_< is a nice opener actually, didn't like it at first
120% get it together and alucarda lives are both incredible
offering and mysterious bond are the weaker songs in the album
instrumentation is really really interesting at times especially on tracks 2, 7, 8, and 10, but there are a few parts that are more boring to me because the vocals take so much precedence and kind of drown of the instrumental.
yeah theres just nothing wrong with this, every song is like actually perfect
the instrumentation is incredible, the sounds between songs are varied but not so much its incohesive, everything just works
the first 6 tracks are all near-perfect, porter has progressed so much since worlds and it shows. cheerleader especially is about a parasocial relationship between him and his fans, and features terrifying lyrics over an aggressively upbeat, maximalist instrumental. russian roulette is my personal favorite on the album, perfect pinterest garden and kitsune maison freestyle also slap. year of the cup feels very different from the rest of the album, with the lil wayne interview sample and less ... read more

instant mood boost, every time. i don't know how lamp compressed this much joy into 33 minutes, but they did
