This album has peaks of brilliance, possibly the greatest he's had (Dirty Diana, Smooth Criminal), other amazing songs, also the rawness that he brought into the 90s started to show up here, however while in Dangerous it feels intentional, here it makes some songs feel dated a little bit, but the album is so iconic I'm not even sure that's a problem.
Needless to say that I'm only rating the tracks and NOT the remixes. These are some of his best songs ever, BOTDF is infectious, Morphine is so raw, dark and unique, Ghosts and Is it scary are amazing spooky tracks but the lyrics also convey a personal meaning, Superfly sister is just ok I guess
I kinda only come back to What have you done?, In Our Solemn Hour, All I Need and The Truth Beneath The Rose, but every song is enjoyable
Darling Nikki and Dirty Diana are the cunt icons of the 80s cuntiest men
The album wasn't groundbreaking or anything like that, but I like Emily a lot and I think that this is a good album to play live, and that's what they wanted and needed. I've seen them in concert and Overflow live was an out of body experience. I'm tuned in for this new chapter, also kinda emotional
Linkin Park but unserious, and I find it hilarious, and that's why I like it lmaoo
Cute, this was part of my witchy dreamy pop awakening and I still come back to some tracks from time to time
Nothing incredible but sometimes I'm just so nostalgic about Avril Lavigne and 2000s pop-rock and I eat this shit up.
Haunting, gloomy, ethereal. Yeah I mean, my shit.
This is where I'm at if you don't find me at the function.
So underrated, This is literally Disintegration's flow state with more 2000s sounds, as it should.
Messy at times but this is made me realize I needed Bjork, emo bubblegoth and industrial music in my life, possibly all at once lmao. I will always come back to it.
The tracks were great to begin with, but of course they weren't complete songs. The reworkings were good overall but some could have been so much better and they just threw his hiccups and adlibs around, however this album has some of the best MJ vocals ever, so crisp, that alone is addicting I have to admit.
Disco perfection, not my personal favorite by MJ but this is simply flawless, classy and carefree. An artistic statement that made history.
