- Revisiting My Old Taste #9 -
I randomly remembered this today and decided to give it a quick revisit because it's a short EP. I'm in hysterics lmao how the hell did I ever listen to this, it sounds like a parody. The mixing is really bad, it has some absolute horrible and constant audio clipping that absolutely fucks over the music. It is also both really generic but over-the-top in a negative way. The lyrics are so impersonal whilst trying to pretend that they are not and, quite frankly, sound like they're written by someone very young and inexperienced with very broad and uninspired writing that is often unlikably cliché. That's not a very helpful criticism but I find it hard to articulate why these types of lyrics don't work, the overdramatic, generic, and lacking convincing delivery type of lyrics. To its credit, the first and fourth tracks are a little better than the rest, the melodies are more memorable and the concept of the first track fits the sounds this is going for a lot more because it's not trying to be super serious, it's a sillier song and it works better for that. It's just by far the best track here. I suppose the last track is also a bit better but still very uninteresting and has bad lyrics again. Overall, a kinda funny-bad album with some miniscule moment of genuine enjoyment but also one that's not funny enough to return to.
