Hallelujah, praise the Lord, our very own Alabama folk-punkette has graced us with an album about the city of Birmingham and being a queer southerner. Can I hear an amen from the back of the room?!
A deeply important piece of modern folk art. That being said, it's a true folk-punk production with recording quality to match, and I didn't enjoy it until I heard The Bard live and got a feel for the songs. If you get the opportunity to see her live, do it, she brings the house down every time.
Several really great tracks on this one. It's quiet, it's honest, it's affectionate. The omnichord really sets the tone of the album, its like someone sitting in the backseat of your car telling you stories on a road trip.
Hey Nolan and Riverbend Drive really hit the sweet spot for me.
Not as good as The Tryforce, but a couple of standout tracks that are worth more than one listen. Definitely a much higher production value, and the worst songs are not as rough as the first two albums.
In terms of video game parody music, this is literally as good as it gets. Yup.
This is their first album to have more than 2 enjoyable (not even good, just enjoyable and funny) songs on it, and I think that makes it the quintessential Starbomb album. Huzzah!
Definitely funnier than the first album, but still not as funny as when I was 13.
