She killed this, it's incredible. It's very easy to see why she was one of the biggest icons in music in the 90s because of this album. Banger after banger after banger that still holds up nearly 30 years later. There's attitude and confidence just seething from this top to bottom.
Much more commercial than her last album. She still has a powerful voice but the songs just aren't as lively here compared to her last album. Good Horses and Bar in Baton Rouge are great. Could live without the rest but nothing that I dislike
Her voice is phenomenal and unique but some of the songs miss. I enjoy "i blame the bar', "love you tonight", and "better be tough". "you look like love me" is a smash hit, just not a huge fan of it. The rest is all forgettable to me
One of the best in the genre, up there with the best releases of the year. The run of "10-90", "Mary Riley", and "Wayerhaeuser Land" is as good as it gets.
I really hated the start of the album. Like it was giving me a migraine. It sorta kinda redeems itself towards the end with songs like SIX FEET UNDER and ORPHAN, but not enough for me to give this a middling score. At least he wanted rock and got rock, but there's a reason a lot of this sound was left in the early 2000s
