Sorry for all the commotion around this artist recently guys. I fought the corrections team and I actually won. Shoutouts to luca and zzile!
Anywho, this is the second solo HKE album and the implied sequel to the first. And it’s frankly more of the same. On these albums, especially this one, HKE’s sound is extremely professional. Just about anyone who likes electronic can enjoy this. It’s cool, it’s sometimes creative, it’s mystical.
But to me, it fails to be interesting a lot of the time. And I know that it’s a shame. And I know that I’m wrong. I hear amazing things, but I don’t enjoy them.
For a lot of the album, not enough is happening. It’s very loop-centric with some level of song building. But overall, it’s pretty tame typically. I love the parts where it isn’t like this, but tracks like Sphinx prove my point. A small buildup that sounds very atmospheric and cool but leads to absolutely nothing. And repeat. I really hope I come around to these two albums someday because they are technically amazing, but they just can’t strike a chord with me. I’m glad to know that HKE is lowkey a music genius tho. Dreampunk here is cool, other stuff is less cool, about a 7/10 in my books.
