This sounds like if you took Post Malone and mashed him up with a little Panic at the Disco, the 1975, a little Justin Bieber, pop rap, a dash of Ed Sheeran, oh and sprinkles of Christian metal bands like Underoath distributed randomly throughout. I'll admit it: I'm lost. I know, I know, they're the cure. But this is a slog of an album to get through for me.
One thing I haven't heard mentioned about this album is how 2000s it sounds. The influence of pop rock, emo and the singer-songwriter sounds of those times is evident all over this album. "Post" is probably the most appealing song to me on the album, probably because of the slight nostalgia i have for emo and 00s pop. If you like the sounds of late 60s/early 70s rock, like a lot, and you don't mind hearing the exact same sounds, this is the record of 2023. It's technically great, just a bit too on-the-nose for me. Some artists dedicate themselves to reproducing the past. Nothing wrong with that. I'm just bored.
