I’m gonna get my compliments out the way before I complain about what I listened to.(I know this review is like 2 weeks late, I don’t care)

I like the political message against conservatives and the current US government.
The first 2 songs are fun, and other tracks like VIETNAM are better when he performs them live(especially since I’ve heard some of this album live at one of his concerts).
The chill section, while I do not like country and bluegrass very much, was rather listenable.
If you like his 2018-19 era, than maybe this album is for you.

Ok, now I can get mad…
I was already worried the album was gonna be bad when he dropped the lead single/track 3 “THAT’S THE AMERICAN WAY”, but every song after that was even worse.
He executed the whole political statement thing in such a wrong way that it sometimes sounded like he was a conservative in some songs, even knowing that he actively made this album against the current president.
The producers(sometimes him) normally carry his songs, but after the first 2, it kinda just got mediocre.
When I got to track 6, “THE NATIONAL ANTHEM”, being the final track before moving into the folk section, I actively turned down my headphones and thought to myself “what happened in a single month that made him go from a good album to this disaster?”

I am a big fan of him and I’ve been listening since TFID(2023), especially because Small Dark One(2022) helped me accept myself of my LGBT identity, so of course this felt like a slap in the face when I ruined my ears with this.
How did he drop the beautiful and well put together project that was Yang, just to regress and make what I think might be genuinely the worst piece of music I have ever listened to. I hope his final album is nothing like this, and is more like TFID and Yang.
