Another great record that a lot of individuals hate for whatever reason. Some consider it a generic metalcore record while I personally don't hear as many metalcore influences for it to be fully considered a metalcore record and it feels more like nu-metal/alt-metal revival album with a lot of interesting elements and crazy lyrics to digest
It also doesn't feel generic in the first place, people speak without knowing what the hell this word actually means because maybe you actually ... read more
Maybe I'm getting tired of thall, but majority of modern thall-influenced bands sound the same to me for some reason, especially bands that are more influenced by Mirar... A lot of them have similar overproduced sound and purposeless approach where heaviness is basically pointless. In this example we have a really good pop song with a lot of unnecessary thall all over the place which is in fact not easy to make purposeful and good, because maybe it requires more balance or maybe it ... read more
As I'm going back to this album, it has some of the best choruses that will stuck in your head forever.
It happens really rare when I like a song to a point where I can't contain joy during a listening experience and this is one of such cases. I'm a fan since self-titled and it felt like a combination of trilogy with some additional electronic influence and self-titled punch to it that I've missed, but encapsulated into a single song. They're one of my favorite bands for a reason
I wish more people knew about this band. They're really good at emo side of modern progressive metalcore
I personally never was a big fan of ERRA, but I think it's definitely my favorite album by ERRA. Listeners that don't like modern metal will find it hard to connect with, on a first listen especially, *cough cough Kerrang*
Here's a hot take, I think that this album is better than Cure, Self-Titled and Neon at the same time and it has a bit of everything from ERRA discography. On a first listen I gave it a 9/10, but now I'm leaning more towards 8.6/10, I think it's ... read more
On a first listen it was almost perfect. The coolest part about this album is unpredictable switches, complex progressive melodies and uniqueness, it's more prog than I expected. Definitely reminiscent of older Silent Planet, some The Contortionist and Karmanjakah with slight Loathe influence if I were to describe this album using other bands as example. I think it's definitely not what some people may expect and it's pretty difficult to understand on a first listen, so please ... read more
I wasn't a big fan of some singles, but I'm really surprised with the new album overall. I still remember their past album "Life in Exile" which is a hidden gem of Prog Metalcore with cool experimental ideas, and I'm glad they're back
This one got some huge Oceans Ate Alaska vibes in specific moments and it's very experimental as well. Doesn't seem average AT ALL, some ideas are perfectly connected to production and the experimental nature of it, which I ... read more
Very good post-hardcore with great vocals. I only wish it had a little more variety
This album is crazy and chaotic asf, a lot of bass drops and unusual breakdowns. But constant heaviness is not always good and I think it makes stuff too oversaturated and a little exhausting, I wish there was a least one or two softer songs. But overall this album is good.
This is the first time when I don't know how to feel about a Silent Planet song which is a crazy thing to me, because it clearly sounds like modern-era Architects in the beginning and then it turns into a better song somewhere in the middle, and then goes back again. This is pretty disappointing but I will wait for the overall album and overall experience because I've enjoyed previous singles, although I haven't returned to them really.
By the way, all people that compare this ... read more
New Volumes album is a good vibecore with some heavy djent parts, just like Cure by Erra or Tsunami Sea by Spiritbox. I guess it requires either a specific mood or taste and it makes more sense and sounds even better during a drive. For some reason I cannot even compare it to "Happier?" properly, it's different but I enjoyed it. The only noticeable downside personally for me is a lack of noticeable riffs and grooves, I think low tuned guitar makes all of it even less noticeable ... read more
Short review of every song from Bodies X:
• Mercia - One of the best Thornhill songs ever, better than any song on original Bodies
• DIESEL - If Turf from Hotline Miami was a h0rny track
• Revolver - Best remix so far, has some elements of DnB and Chillstep which I like
• Silver Swarm - As somebody mentioned it's giving John Wick vibes, good remix overall
• Only Ever You - Pretty chill remix
• fall into the wind - A lofi beat to explore desert to, overall ... read more
There is something magical about Node. Back when I've listened to original version in 2015, I didn't enjoy it and I thought the album was really weak, I haven't returned to it much since then
Now Northlane decides to release a remixed version and either my taste changed or something clicked, I decided to return to original version of Node and this is truly a masterpiece. The first remixed versions of two songs especially allowed me to properly get into this album. Remixed ... read more
