É complicado falar ... read more
For Those I Love at first it's very intriguing, it's different but familiar, like a unexpected mix of Mount Eerie and M83. The record is powerful, plainspoken, honest, intimate and universal, after the first listen I got really obsessed with its concept of overlaying those raw feelings with upbeat dancing rhythm that works as way of leaking this energy, like a gulf of air out of tense lungs, it's an "exorcism" (The Guardian, I really liked this expression) of his fried and also ... read more
Pérola Negra (Black Pearl) is the glorious debut by brazilian singer-songwriter Luiz Melodia. The record is seasoned with bossa nova, blues, jazz in a deliciously composed samba. The lyrics by Melodia are short of words, but still very complex and powerful in its message: the life of a black man in 60/70s Brazil.
Lust for life delivers a sensual and passionate gloomy vibes. There's some politics involved in some of the tracks, and a vicious feat. with Stevie Nicks in the glorious Beautiful People, Beautiful Problems, and the absolutely favorite of mine Tomorrow Never Came with no one less than John Lennon and Yoko Ono's son. Cherry is uniquely sexy and Get Free is the best outro in Lana Del Rey's career. As a whole, the record is not that strong, has a lot of ups and downs, but it's still better than ... read more
With Honeymoon, Lana has finally conquered my heart. The songs are like dreams in Golden Hollywood Era, the lyrics are smart, sorrowful and, at the same time, joyful. At the very first notes of Honeymoon, the opening titled track, you enter in an aeroplane directly to a bluish great Gatsby illusion, the production just hit every note right with the lyrics. Salvatore brings a summer vacation in Italy color, and Religion sets a provocative tone very Madonna-like. The last two tracks kind of let ... read more
Grant's talent in songwriting is undeniable, but like in her previous record I don't find any connection with what Del Rey is singing about. The production is well done, but is very anxiety inducing to me.
The vocals and songwriting (not always good) are there, but I never understood why I disliked this record so much, it just doesn't resonate with me; though I like how Lana writes her songs, I don't like what she's trying to say though.
On Evermore, Taylor Swift intends to go deeper into the folklorian woods, singing about fictional relationships in a very different perspective from her previous work, such as in Ivy a Champagne Problems in which she shows a vulnerable and complex storyline of betrayal and a broken marriage proposal. There are some weak links alongside the record, long story short doesn't fit for me; no body, no crime is fun and creative, but is another feat. that the featured artist it's kind left off the song ... read more
Moses Sumney achives a beautiful work with his sophomore LP Græ. There's some great experimental production and powerful lyrics. I heard this in December and haven't heard it since, so I don't remember much about the details, but I remember it was very strong and solid, though I lacked some connection with it; and that's not a bad thing for the LP critically, it's just personal preference. Either way, I'll be looking forward to his next music.
