i learned that wellbutrin and mucinex have counteracting effects while listening to this album!!! honestly a deeply terrifying experience because it hit when i got to pulldrone but i'm pretty sure this was how mother intended for the album to be listened to
this album's just too long, the back half definitely picks up some but i feel like it just never comes out from under the shadow of Stick Season either.
but "your love is like an open flame, i'm a runnin' car and you're a closed garage" is certainly one of the lyrics of all time, jesus christ...
this was hands down my top album of 2023, and probably the singular album i've listened through the most times. giving it a relisten after the first single dropped for their upcoming album and it still hits just as hard. cameron's vocal range and richness will never fail to stun me. the stylistic influences blend seamlessly together into the perfect amalgamation of absolute bangers you just can't help but groove to.
one of the most upsetting things i've listened to, i love it.
(seriously though, as a gay raised deep in the bible belt who very much grew up singing hymns like there is power in the blood, this really does hit home in such a soul shaking way. she never ceases to amaze me.)
